Welcome to the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) at BGSCET!! AI&DS represents an emerging field of study, characterized by its application of scientific methodologies to tackle complex challenges. Over the past decade, AI&DS has burgeoned into a distinct discipline within Computer Engineering, precipitating a transformative shift across industries, academia, and research spheres. Through the empowerment of machine learning, AI&DS is reshaping our world at an unprecedented pace. Our curriculum is meticulously crafted to furnish students with the requisite skills for data analysis, interpretation, and visualization across diverse formats. By integrating principles of statistics, computing, artificial intelligence, and data science, we equip our students with the latest tools and technologies to enhance efficiency and amplify human capabilities. The department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) is established during the academic year 2022-23 with an intake of 60.

Artificial Intelligence and Data Science(AI&DS)

  Is a new branch of study that deals with scientific methodologies, processes, and techniques drawn from different domains like statistics, cognitive science, and computing and information science to extract knowledge from structured data and unstructured data. This knowledge is applied in making various intelligent decisions in business applications. AI&DS focuses on collecting, categorizing, strategizing, analyzing and interpreting data. AI&DS is a specialised branch that deals with the development of data-driven solutions, data visualization tools and techniques to analyse big data. It also incorporates the concepts of machine learning and deep learning model building for solving various computational and real-world problems.

Artificial Intelligence

• Is a human-like intelligence provided to machines where machines act and think as humanly & solve problems faster than humans. Speech recognition, translation tools, etc., are the building areas of AI.
• Is the implementation of a predictive model to forecast future events and trends, Automation of the process & uses machine learning techniques 

Data Science

• Is a subset of Artificial Intelligence. Data science is a collection of data to analyze and make a decision. It uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and insights from many structural and unstructured data.
• Is a detailed process that mainly involves pre-processing analysis, visualization, and prediction with a high degree of scientific processing & extensive tools will be used to process the data uses the technique of data analysis and data analytics.
